Realizing its Zero Deforestation Commitment, STP Conducts Reforestation and Fish Restocking in Sumberbulu Village, Banyuwangi

Banyuwangi, August 27, 2026 – PT Suri Tani Pemuka (STP), an aquaculture subsidiary of JAPFA, launched an ecosystem conservation initiative by planting trees and releasing fish fry along the banks of the Badeng River in Sumberbulu Village, Banyuwangi Regency. This initiative is part of the company's long-term commitment to implementing sustainable and responsible business practices.
This activity implements the company's Zero Deforestation Policy and reflects its dedication to preserving river ecosystems and water resources comprehensively, from upstream to downstream. By planting 3,750 pine saplings in the upstream area to maintain water absorption and prevent erosion, and releasing 50,000 catfish fry downstream to support aquatic ecosystems, STP is actively aiding watershed recovery and ensuring sustainable fisheries for the local community.
The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Suwiss Songgon Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), with support from the Environment Agency, the Fisheries and Marine Agency, and the Banyuwangi District Leadership Council (Muspika). This collaboration highlights the synergy among the company, government, and local communities in safeguarding river ecosystems through environmental conservation, biodiversity preservation, and local empowerment.

Planting pine trees plays a crucial role in preventing erosion and stabilizing the soil along the riverbanks. For us, ecosystem preservation cannot be done in isolation; it must be comprehensive from upstream to downstream, starting with protecting water catchment areas through reforestation, all the way to sustaining water resources by restocking fish fry. We believe these consistent small steps will yield a positive long-term impact on the environment and the surrounding communities."
Nationwide, STP has driven continuous environmental conservation efforts by planting over 35,000 trees across its operational areas, including Purwakarta, Gresik, Banyuwangi, Singaraja, Barru, and Serdang Bedagai. Beyond tree planting, STP has also released sea turtle hatchlings and fish fry around its operational sites, such as the planting of 3,000 mangroves and the release of 100 sea turtle hatchlings at Cacalan Beach, Banyuwangi, as well as reinforcing its green commitment through mangrove planting on its 36th anniversary. These initiatives are part of the company's ongoing commitment to generating a positive impact on the environment and society through more responsible and sustainable operational practices.
